Assignments, reports and legal bundles are much easier to use with numbered pages. Choose a position and a style, and every page is numbered for you.
How to use the Add Page Numbers to PDF
- Upload your PDF.
- Choose where the numbers go, the style and the starting number.
- Download your numbered PDF.
What to expect
Six positions
Place numbers at the top or bottom, on the left, in the center or on the right.
Four styles
Choose from 1, Page 1, 1 of 10 and Page 1 of 10.
Start anywhere
If your cover page shouldn't count, start at 0, so the next page is numbered 1.
Numbering a merged document
If your document comes from several files, join them with Merge PDF first. Numbering afterwards gives you one running sequence, rather than each section starting again at 1.
Skipping a cover page
Every page gets a number, including the cover. Start at 0 if you'd like the page after the cover to be page 1, though the cover will then show a 0. To keep the cover free of any number, take it off with Remove PDF Pages, add your numbers, and put it back at the start with Merge PDF.
Which style to choose
| Style | Good for |
|---|---|
| 1 | Assignments and simple documents |
| Page 1 | Reports and handouts |
| 1 of 10 | Forms where pages may be separated |
| Page 1 of 10 | Contracts, where a missing page should be obvious |
