Need to send a CV with its certificates, or a report with its appendix? Upload your PDFs, arrange them in the order you want, and download them as one file.
How to use the Merge PDF
- Upload two or more PDFs.
- Use the arrows to put them in order, or add more.
- Press the button, and your merged PDF downloads.
What to expect
You choose the order
Move any file up or down, or remove it, before you merge. The first file on the list comes first in the PDF.
Pages stay the same
Pages are copied as they are, without being turned into pictures, so text stays sharp and searchable.
Add files in rounds
Files can come from different folders. Press Add more files as many times as you need.
When merging PDFs helps
- Sending a job application as one file: CV, cover letter and certificates.
- Submitting an assignment with its cover page and appendix.
- Joining monthly statements or invoices for your records.
- Putting separately scanned pages back into one document.
Before you merge
Check the order on the list, as it becomes the page order in the finished file. If your pages are photos, make them into a PDF first with Image to PDF. If the merged file is too large to send, make it lighter with Compress PDF.
If your files won't merge
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| A message about a password | Remove it with Unlock PDF if you know it, and then merge |
| Files are too large | The limit is 200 MB in total. Shrink the biggest file with Compress PDF first |
| Too many pages | The finished PDF can have up to 500 pages, so divide the job into two files |
| One file looks damaged | Try it in Repair PDF, and then merge the repaired copy |
Building a neat application pack
Put a CV or cover letter first, followed by certificates and then ID copies. If some pages are photos, turn them into a PDF with Scan to PDF. After merging, Add Page Numbers makes the pack easy to refer to, and Compress PDF brings it under an upload limit. See our guide to combining PDFs for more.
