How to Sign a PDF Without Printing It
Updated
Printing a form just to sign it and scan it again wastes time. You can place your signature on a PDF from a phone or computer in about a minute.
Step 1: open your document
Go to Sign PDF and upload your file. If you need to fill in the rest of a form first, use Fill PDF Form or Edit PDF, and then sign the result.
Step 2: make your signature
| Method | Best for |
|---|---|
| Draw | A natural look. Use your finger on a phone |
| Type | A quick, tidy result on a computer without a touch screen |
| Upload | Using your real pen signature from a photo |
Making a clean signature picture
- Sign with a dark pen on plain white paper.
- Take the photo in good light, directly from above.
- Crop closely with Crop Image.
- Make it see-through with Remove Background, so that it doesn't cover the form's lines.
Step 3: place it and download
Set the width with the slider, and press on the page where the signature goes. Its top-left corner lands where you press. If it's wrong, press Remove last one and try again. You can use more than one signature on different pages.
When a simple signature isn't enough
This adds a visible signature, not a certified digital signature, and it doesn't prove who signed. Many everyday forms accept it. Legal, banking and government documents may have stricter rules, so check with whoever asked for your signature.
